I have had this baby about two weeks now and it has grown on me big time. Not to say I wasn't impressed from the moment I took it out of the box. I was. I think it was the first time I ever bought a laptop, or anything else for that matter, and just said, "Wow." The only time that would come close was when I got my Sony flat panel HDTV. I don't know what it is, but I seem to be drawn back to my Vaio everyday. I look forward to seeing it in the morning. Haha. Really, I absolutely love this thing. The design is so sweet. The flat keyboard, the silver magnesium alloy, the brushed aluminum, the smooth matte black plastic, and my favorite part- the GORGEOUS ECO-EXBRITE display. I have never in my life seen such a stunning LCD screen. I have this awesome deep royal blue Vaio background and everytime I see it, I just flip for how sweet this thing is. And it is sooo quiet! I have never had a laptop this silent. I don't know how I went so many years without ever owning a Vaio laptop.
I am pretty positive I will own only Sonys in the future, unless I decide to try a MacBook at some point. But I would never want to settle for a lesser screen than the Sonys provide. People say they are expensive, even too expensive, but they are WORTH IT! I can say the same for my Sony Bravia 1080p LCD HDTV. It is brilliant.

Yeah the FZs are really nice. I wish I had some spare money to get one of their ultraportables but instead I'll probably buy an offering from Dell or MSI that is a little more in my price range right now. >.<
Happy to hear that you enjoy it! -

Good to hear that you like it as well.

Welcome the the club!
I had an VGN-FS550 for three years and was pretty sure I was NOT buying another Sony. I shopped for 3 weeks and bought a Dell 1720. I had that for 3 days and sent it back. I realized after some research that my old eyes really loved the Sony display - and few others currently compare. I was torn between an AR and the FZ (for screen real estate reasons) and decided on the FZ with an external 19" Samsung LCD. I am a happy camper too. Great laptop (particularly after a clean install of Vista to get rid of all that bloatware). -
Yeah, the FZ is a good laptop.
LoriSonyVaio, congrats on your purchase & welcome to the forum (like bubbatex has said). -
My first laptop was a Sony K-15. Still have it and have been using it for years. Finally decided to upgrade to a TZ.
My K series had a plethora of problems: Hard drive failure, screen flickering, keyboard keys popping out. You can't even upgrade the RAM to 1 GB from 512 MB, even though they say you can. It's a common problem, apparently, from searching here.
I was really against buying another one but to be honest, nothing caught my eye save for another Vaio. Here's hoping my TZ gives me less (or more preferably, no) problems.
Vaios have the most forward thinking design and absolutely the best screens. They're more expensive than what the others ask for but I'm willing to pay the difference. Well worth it. -

Well one thing I should point out to you Sony screen lovers (I like them too but) is that Sony doesn't actually manufacture their own LCDs. They buy all of their screens from Samsung. So if you ever are between buying something from Samsung or Sony and the deciding factor is the screen, well just know they are from the same place.
-
They don't make their own RAM or HDD's or CPU's either.
There are only a few display mfg'ers in the world - Samsung & LG probably make the bulk of the laptop displays.
But why does Sony not have the same problems with crappy displays as Dell does with Samsung? I did read that they have design oversight on their screens - that Samsung supplies Sony's displays to Sony specs. Dell and others just takes what comes off the line. -
-
My thought exactly as I was typing that!

Yeah Samsung, LG, Sharp, and one other company (can't remember atm XD) are the only ones who make LCDs...
And yeah, I think that Sony and Dell simply pay different prices for their screens to Samsung makes them to different specs...
I am in love with the Sony FZ!
