This is the first computer that I have actually extensively researched before buying. All of my previous computers were selected and bought by my parents (my dad mainly). I was originally looking for a 17" desktop replacement and had decided on a Dell E1705 with the $750 off coupon, but when I went to Best Buy and saw the 17" notebooks, they were verry heavy. From then on, I was looking solely at notebooks under 5.5lbs and 14" widescreen or less (except the MacBookPro, but that was only 5.5lbs). I originally was looking for Core DUo and dedicated graphics, so I was looking at the Asus A8Jm and W7J (W3J was out of my $1500 price range), Dell XPS M1210 and Latitude D620, and the Sony SZ. My dad liked the Sony, but not the price, and directed me to the FJ. I already knew about it and had used it extensively (my best friend had a white FJ150) and knew that it would suit my purposes quite nicely, but the price was squarely in the territory of better Core Duo notebooks, and I had found a MacBook Pro at my University Bookstore brand new for only $100 more than the FJ. However, Best Buys new sale today made me change my mind an buy the FJ270/B.
I have been using it non-stop for about 2 hours, and it is a very nice laptop. The keyboard is very nice, the screen is the best I have ever seen on a laptop and it is very speedy, although I know that it is outdated already. It has great quality, and is a very nice size for me. I think its great.
Thanks for all your help in selecting this laptop!!!!

That's great! Good for you but I'm surprised that you used non-dell 17" as a comp. I do find mine big and getting looks while outside but I don't find it that heavy, which I thought I would. Did you consider the Acer 5672WLMi - it was on sale at CompUSA for $899 after instant off and rebates totalling $500.
