I can't run window sidebar on my new vaio SR series, and in msconfig I also don't see any sidebar.exe appears. I've tried to go to C:\Programe Files\Window sidebar\sidebar.exe and still nothing apppears on my screen.
I also downloaded windowsidebar for Vista, copy and past it to program file folder, and run it, the same nothing appears.
I don't know what to do more, I don't want to format my hard drive and install new window.
Please help me and tell me what should I do?
    Thank in Advance

have you looked for windows sidebar properties in the control panel?
when your in there the first check box is "start task bar when windows starts" make sure the the box is checked and then restart you computer.
the sidebar does not just open like a program for some reason it requires a reset.

Most Vaios come with Googlebar pre-installed. When you uninstall it , it messes with vista registers and the sidebar cannot be run.

Here is an easy fix :

    1- start , run regedit.exe
    2- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ MICROSOFT \ WINDOWS\ CURRENTVERSION \ POLICIES \WINDOWS\ SIDEBAR
3- Delete the entry "TurnOffSidebar" or replace its value by "0"
    4- reboot if needed

Hoping it will fix your problem.
