because the available screen resolutions are too high for our needs ... it's for business use and we don't like small fonts.... a 1440 x 900 option would of been nice.

Like many I like Sony because of their incredible screens, the Z is excellent the FW hi-color is too.

If you didn't buy Sony, or if wanted a notebook with lower resolution in 15/16" screen size what would you buy? Who makes screens as soon as Sony, or nearly as good?

Dell is out, Lenovo is out because if you read of their fourm its a gamble whether you'll get an LG or Samsung screen, HP screens aren't great ... I'm running out of options.

Screen quality is very important as is a realistic font size for reading business docs for long periods of time without eyestrain.

I don't think I'm asking for too much. We just want a notebook with a very nice screen, 15/16" in size with a font size 1440 x 900 or even 1200 x 800...

    Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

Sony has a BZ series for business use..

the screen is 15.4" with a 1280x800 resolution.. it's kinda too low in my opinion

You say "We just want a notebook with a very nice screen, 15/16" in size with a font size 1440 x 900 or even 1200 x 800... "

I say... because it's a 16:9 screen, that's where the Sony FW's extra resolution comes in, as it's 1600x900. If the FW was a 15" 16:10 screen, then it would indeed probably be 1440 x 900.

So, therefore with the FW you are still getting the same font size/resolution that you were after with the 15" screen, but because it's a wider screen, you are getting a wider resolution...

So stop you whining and buy one! :)

Get Sony FZ. It has 1280x800 at 15.4". Some FZ models come with premium screen (HiColor). Perfect for your need. Sony FZ has been discontinued not too long ago but you still can buy brand new at some stores. Just do google search. Or you can buy refurbished model from Sony Outlet.
