I did it, I pulled the trigger on a VAIO Z12

They dropped the price on the Z12 this morning by $105. And nobody could guarantee the free adobe software and the huge discount on the SSD upgrades would be around when the Z13 comes out (these promos are likely around to push out the remaining Z12's).

So i got the US model Z12, left all the options as the default configurations, but upgraded the color to Premium Carbon Fiber and upgrade the SSD option to 256GB. Total cost before tax = 1850.00

I was willing to wait and risk missing out on the Adobe software, and I must admit I was worried that the SSD discount wouldn't be around for the Z13 (especially since I will not be using 25% of the drive's capacity), but the extra 105 bucks off the top was the last straw.

Quick question. How should I go about not using 25% of the dual SSD's space? Should I partition out 25%? Or just use the drive normally and just try not to take the drives' total used space past 75%? Thanks for input on this

Congrats, did you get a student discount. With the upgrades and your $105 discount I calculated $1959. Also keep in mind that the Adobe package is only on the restore partition. They don't give you separate DVD's to install manually. This sucks because if you want to erase the drive and install your own copy of Windows you can use the Adobe package.

I bought the notebook through EPP.

I also bought it using my chase rewards card through their credit card mall so that will net me another 70-75 bucks back on top.

This isn't 100% true. You can download the installers from Adobe's site and input the serial numbers of the copies that came with your Z.

The serials can be gotten by registering Photoshop/Premiere with Adobe before erasing the drive then logging on Adobe's site with the account you registered them.

Lol ya I browse these forums every now and then to see if there's anything interesting.

Since I also recently purchased a Z12 I had the same reinstalling problems and thought my post might save someone some time.
