Hello ,
I was going to be " almost " a future owner of Sony vaio Z series or SR series ... but after searching and looking around the posts in this forum I found some problems which isn't solved yet !
First of all I would thank all members who reported their notebook problems such as battery drain in both models " Z & SR " and also the typing problem in Z series.
I was almost going to buy Z series for 8995 AED = 2450 $ , This Z series is Made in Japan and I think I might get battery drain problem also if I got it.
After switching or forgetting getting Z series I turned to get SR series .. but CHEERS ! there is also battery problems![]()
Guys for now .. will these problems solved by sony ? .. I can't believe they still ignoring the thousands costumers who report this problem daily .
I like both Sony Vaio Z series and SR series .. they are strong and high performance notebooks and also sexy.. but getting these problems ??
I had the same problem with my HP and kissed it goodbye .. I don't want to waste another 2000$ .. this is our money we worked hard for it !
Now I concern getting Toshiba U400 if sony didn't sort out the problems .
P.S : I'm getting my notebook cuz of my collage study .. " Computer Science : Programming " so I need my notebook to be with me 24/7 where I go .
Thx guys and I will appreciate your replies .

The minimal battery drain problem on most (if not all) Sony VAIO series is NOT a deal breaker to most.. it is NOT that big of a deal that a very few people keep pushing against.. if ALL other factors and usage needs fits the bill, than WHY NOT?!
For my usage needs, design-wise, feature-wise, spec-wise the Z beat out all other notebooks I researched - and thus one minimal battery drain problem is negligible!
ALL notebooks no matter what manufacturer WILL have one or more "issues" especially discussed on forums like these!! -
I agree with sonoritygenius. ALL notebooks have issues. And the more you look for them, the more you'll find. You kind of have to pick out what faults are deal breakers for you and which are not. If those are deal breakers, I'm sorry, and I do think you should go with another brand that will better suit your needs.
I am also a collEge student, and I am really excited about getting a Z. I will be able to plug in my notebook a good 95% of time in any class, so I'm not concerned about the battery. I've compared to many other options, but for me the trade offs are worth going with the Z. -
Right, as with what the other two said:
1. If you use your laptop enough, you'll probably be charging it every night. That said, size for power, the Z is win. At about 60% brightness, wireless on, dvd and HDD protection disabled, I still get over 5 hrs battery life on the standard capacity battery, AFTER my battery gets drained like the 8% ish from the battery drain issue. That's still plenty of bang for your buck right there.
2. Weight for power wise, I didn't find anything on the market this great.
3. Screen is worth every penny. The second I got this, my desktop monitor started to look dull compared to it. -
My old Dell - its battery is loose, there's also a normal battery drain on it if I leave it on standby, but not significant. We can all get obsessive-compulsive over the battery, but in the end I just use it and forget about battery care and drain.

It's true - every brand/model of notebooks will have some minor problems - none of which are deal breakers. You'll always risk buying a lemon, but the chances of that are pretty slim. The only issue I've had with my Z was the power drain, but I rarely use it on battery or leave it unplugged overnight, plus with the battery care function set to max 80% charge, it hasn't been much of a problem. It's just a matter of what matters to you most.
I don't like this !
