It has basically the same performance stock as the 162.18 driver but you can use Ntune or rivaturner to over or underclock it. I have it underclocked for school and normal use and then a little overclocked for gaming and 3d use.

here are the overclocked scores from 3d mark05 and 3dmark06. These were at 600gpu and 800 memory.

    here are the 3dmark benchmarks:

Wow, thats better than some stock 8600m GT's. Does your FZ run stable overclocked? Whats your stock 3DMark 06 score?

Ya, I ran the nvidia stability test for about 25 minutes and the card didnt exceed 72*celcius.

I didnt have a stock 3dmark06 score but I will run it later in the day tomorrow.

So what did you do to get it to OC?
I've tried all kinds of drivers, riva ntune and it'll oc up like mad in the test, but won't keep the setting.

Nice, Does your notebook's surfaces feel any hotter than normal? How did you measure the temperature of your gpu? How much more battery life did you get by underclocking your gpu? What are your system specs?

I used rivatuner and ntune. My settings will hold unless I change the power profile to something like power saver. If I change it the clock speeds go down to 275/300.

When logging the hottest it got was like 73*c. Normal temp will get up to about 69*.

I havent run the battery down while underclocking the whole time. But im sure ill see some improvement given that the last time I did a run down test it only got 2.5 hours on power saver with just internet and no bluetooth.

    600/800? Wow. Power of DDR3, I guess. :p

So you do have to underclock manually? Hmm, too bad powermizer doesn't work with Vista atm....

Mine will test up to 670/800.
I got it to OC in vista, but changed drivers and haven't been able to get it to go since.

ok guys after playing around some more and finally doing a semi-clean install I decided to run some more 3dmarks with event logging enable and overclocked.

    with 650/825 I got this:

the event logging area with the highest temps is here:

^ About same as XPS1330 idling, eh? That is impressive. BTW, doesn't Rivatuner show wrong core clock?

    Thanks for the driver dsg.

    3DMark 06 at stock speeds: 2559

3DMark 06 overclocked to 600/800: 3304, I ran the NV Stability Test for 10 minutes and didn't exceed 74*, I will monitor the temp while playing Source or something sometime soon.

CS: Source Video Stress Test overclocked to 600/800 (max settings, 1200x800, AA and AF 4x): 59 fps average

I ran an event log while playing Source and it maxed at 77*. I wish they didn't have to put the gpu right below the left palm rest because it gets pretty warm. I may pick up a cooler and see what that does...

Doesn't powermizer work in vista? When using nvidia monitor, it sometimes shows 168/100 (core/mem) when i am just surfing.
