I finally got my TT and I must say I'm disappointed with it's looks. Compared to the TZ it's a No No! however, i do feel the difference in its specification!

I just re installed vista using my restor discs and downloaded all the drivers from the vaio website but guess what? there were no utilities on the website? so hard disk protection, battery care etc do not work? what do i do?

What about it looks bad to you vs TZ? Will you post some real time pics of your TT? thanks ;)

Congrads. You will know that it runs faster than the TZ, because of the 800 MHz FSB, the DDR3, and the sata 5400rpm hdd. Also, TT is much cooler(heat) than the TZ. So look is not everything. I actually like the look now.

You did it the long and wrong way. Did you make a set of recovery discs? Did you install recovery center? If you did not do the second one, use the first recovery disc, and choose re-install software and drivers. It is all there, no need to download anything. If you did install the recovery center, all you need to do is run the recovery center.

So I install vista via my windows vista sp1 cd, then put the 2nd restore disc which will only install the drivers and utilities.. none of the ****ware?

It's deffo faster in every sence, I just feel the TZ was sexier and felt expensive compare to the TT. The chrome doesn't look bad but not sexy either.. I prefered the glossy keyboard on the TZ.... TZ = Sexy but TT = okay but faster and feels stronger... especiallly the screen...

I will take photos.. just want to set it up ready to go first.

Ashan Asharf it is a shame that you are not entirely happy with your new laptop. You did put a lot of money down on that thing. Maybe you might grow to like the looks more in time?
As been said if you are not happy with it you can return it.
The TT is more powerful than any other notebook in its class (11.1<) i believe.
It is not worth it for £2,000 though. At that price you should be getting an SSD drive in there.
Btw, i customised one before and it came to £1,5XX with a 5% Sony discount. You cannot return customised orders though if you decide to change your mind.

I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Maybe have a look around at some other companies and see what they are offering.

No, you do not need your windows vista sp1 cd. If you had created 2 recovery discs, put the first one in and restart.

    1. After it boots, I chose to reinstall complete system.
    2. Answer "no" to question on keeping factory default C drive. It will give you a choice to partition the drive. I chose 40 GB for c drive.
    3. Answer "no" to question on keeping factory default programs on C
It goes on to install windows, and reboots. Then a screen comes up saying that it has finished with installing windows, and will procede to install programs. I hit "cancel" This stops it from installing any of the sony's programs and drivers.

After this you can run the vaio recovery center, and choose to re-install programs and drivers. A screen comes up to give you all the choices of programs and drivers. It is all there.

I've got everything working and I think I am happy with my TT now.. However, I still have to say if you put the TZ and TT next to each other the TZ does look sexier... the TT looks a little thicker... but I must say that I can feel a difference in performance between the two.

The TZ is on sale now too

Me too. I own a TT11LN and I love it.

There are a lot of picture of my TT11LN here

I'm trying to optimize Vista. It's quite good.
I don't understand why HDD LED lights once per second because, according to Vista built-in Performance Monitor, the HDD is not accessed (Read = Write = 0 kb/minute) by any process.

I am not feeling the silver sides. As the OP might be noticing, the performance is up on the TZ by an expected level given the architecture change and I have no problems with it, but come on. Chromed plastic?

Hmm the TT is looking very nice. Will have to go and look at one soon. One question TT owners.. what the battery life like? up there with the TZ?

You can likely bet on it. Any damage to the sides will probably result in the plating flaking off the plastic. At least it's not a structural problem, unlike e.g. that I've had to bend the Airs back into shape occasionally... but it P's me off a lot.

The battery life is probably better than the TZ in similar usage, but then it is heavier - the TT is almost the same weight as a TZ with the extended cell... which means that in terms of weight vs life, the TZ might have the edge. I kick in the 3G quite often so I'm not getting near the advertised life even with power-saving measures, but it's still longer most others in a similar category I've used. Also, one big plus of the TT over the TZ if you use the 3G is that at least for the UK machines, the modems are no longer locked to T-Mobile.

Trustedreviews http://www.trustedreviews.com/noteb...ony-VAIO-VGN-T11WN-B-11-1in-Ultra-Portable/p1 did a review of the TT and have found the battery life in the TT to be a lot poorer than the TZ.

DVD playback on full brightness with WIFI off:
    TZ:245minutes
    TT:164minutes

Anyone willing to confirm this on their own TT?

There are a few factors which could affect those results. I guess I'll have to run some matched comparisons when I have time before I get rid of all my TZ's.
