HDTune, HDTach and PC Mark Vantage are nice synthetic tools.
Personally I prefer real life testing. Laptopmag are excellent for this imo:

Vista has a file where it can measure boottimes. -
This is interesting. Waiting to heart the results of the SSD comparison.

Interesting. How/why did you get both units?

I actually purchased the 590UAB on 10/11/08 but wanted the Blu-ray with the 128GB SSD and it was not available. On 10/23/08 the 590CTO became available with Blu-ray and 256GB SSD. Rather than adding the $1000+ Blu-ray to the 590UAB (at a later date), I decided to purchase the 590CTO. I probably will return the 590UAB (within 30 days and no restocking fee)as the CTO with Blu-ray and 256GB SSD is very fast.
I have installed the exact same software on both units. I am currently defragging the the 590CTO and will run some tests tonight and over the weekend.
I will post all results -
Here are some benchmark results and the 256GB SSD appears to be significantly slower than the 128GB SSD

it looks pretty close to me ? or am i reading it wrong?

Disk - Sequential Read
Disk - Sequential Write
Disk - Random Seek + RW -
btw, there's no need to defrag ssds
