Ok, ill try and sound calm,
I brought a VGN-N130G laptop last year (31st dec) from dubai (i live in london) and have had two disastrous problems this year so far. One was that I got a virus and i couldnt go past the log on screen, therefore i was forced to borrow a XP professional disk from my friend therefore downgrading my OS from MCE to XP.
I contacted Sony UK then (the laptop is american/candian) and they said that there would be a cost involved (which i cannot afford) and it is under warranty anyway for a year. So I was forced to do the above.
That worked out fine except for the sound driver not working in professional (which i dont really care about). it carried on working for a couple of months until this morning when i went to have a shower then came back to find that the computer mysteriously had a black screen and there were weird sounds coming out of the HDD (i had these sounds before i switched to Professional also, but since then it had behaved). I shut down the computer (as i usually do when this happens) then restarted.
For no reason i know of, the computer will now not go past the windows XP startup screen, but will instead stay on a black screen with the HDD going mental until a min or so when a BSOD will come up then restart the laptop straight away, not allowing me to see the message (but I think theres something to do with memory dump). I have tried all alternative methods of starting up (safe mode etc) but with no luck. I even tried to boot from my USB which had damn small linux on it to recover some of my files, but with no luck.
I need to get all my files back in one peice and have my laptop back to normal (i dont want to do a XP reinstall cause i need the files on my laptop) and was wondering how the hell i can do that and how i should contact sony to do it for me cause its still on warranty and Im sure that the would ask me to send it to sony UK so the repair can be done here instead of the US (if thats possible, please tell me it is)
I just need my laptop up and running ASAP and to have all the files intact and any help would be appricated.
also, Sony Vaio UK and USA's email and phone no please (its so hard to find it on the net!)
Thanks in advance, and please somebody change my life forever by making me happy![]()

Weird sounds from the hard drive are often a sign of hard drive failure.
Sony US support -
If it's VGNN130G its a US model try contacting sony USA support so you'll be assisted if you're HDD is failing and producing a soud .
