I heard that the 1GB limit on RAM was a lie for the s270/s360s?

Yes, I know that they say that the limit is 1GB - but I've heard rumors saying that people have gotten 1.5~2GB installed and running.

I believe that is one of the things that was addressed in the new bios. Being how s360 is one of the only notebooks to use microdimm it just makes sense that is why swissbit makes 1gb sticks. I have heard more than a feew times it is possible so, I would assume so.

Cool. It seems like quite a few people are running at 1.5GB without any issues.

On another note, does your 7200RPM HDD seem quite a bit hotter than the 4200? How warm is the palmrest? As bad as a S460/560?

Not at all. Feels the same as it ever did. Normal usage for 9+hours still yealds cool palmrest. I chose a 360 afte going to comp usa and feeling the s4XX and s5XX machines. At my local store they had all three models lined up next to each other. 360 nice and cool, others extremely hot.
Not to mention that earlier models of the s series the motherboard warped from heat issues and the gpu lifted from the boards as a result of this. So, I chose the 360 because with so much heat and not even gameing heat just iddle heat on newer models, I wouldn't be suprised if the newer models start having a problem such as this in the future.

I'm running 1.5 GB as we speak(type?). I believe at the time Sony made that claim, 1GB MicroDimm sticks did not exist? But the s270/s360 intel chipset supports up to 2GB at least, so go for it.

P.S. I also have a 7k60 installed on my vaio, absolutely no discernable heat difference, slightly noisier (but almost equally unnoticable).

    Thanks for the information! :)

Do you know anything about the difference in performance for the 5400 vs the 7200?

And, do you know anything about upgrading the DVD/CD-RW to a DVD-RW?

    Thanks!! :D

Jaedyn, I jumped directly from 4200 to 7200, so I can't compare between the 7200 and 5400. The 7200 is very fast though. ;)

You can replace the CDRW with a DVDR, but it has to be a specific model if you want to use the Sony bezel for the drive. You can search this forum and I find it I think. Hope this helps. =)
