    I found this one http://www.clearanceclub.com/images/vpc-sa3dgxbi.pdf

But I need to know if the wireless boardband modem supports international bands or not ? ,, I want to use it in UAE Turkey and Lebanon and AFAIK AT&T use different 3g frequency bands

Anyone can give the modem model number or anyone with this laptop can assure that its will work on international bands ?

    Thanks

First of all, the UK uses a different layout for the keyboard. Second, while The Netherlands uses a US keyboard and has a (hopefully temporary) obligatory €100,- upgrade to a HSDPA module the frequency band it operates on is not compatible with US carriers.

AKA, buying in Europe is not an option.

The Vaio S should however have a spare pci-e slot available. If you want to get your hands dirty you could try to get a half-height pci-e HSDPA module. I would advise some painstaking research though.

I have a Z13 with an internal 3G modem which works fine with AT&T's U.S. "HSPA+" network. Here is the modem's description from SIW:

    VAIO-Z-I7256 (Sony Corporation VPCZ13EGX)
    Network Adapter 3
Model Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9225
Description [14] Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Mobile Broadband Device 9225

(sorry, just two repetitive description lines - have no idea what the "[14]" refers to - but just pasted the description straight from SIW)

Would this work for you? If so, I've been toying with putting the computer on the market. PM me if interested.

If you get stuck you could always buy a 3G USB dongle locally (most internet providers will give you a SIM card and will also have a USB dongle to match). If you travel frequently to a couple of countries, you might even get one for each country - save you the hassle of swapping those pesky SIMs around.

On a similar note - i was wondering if it would be difficult to retrofit an internal 3G adapter?

I.e. buy a vaio Z series in the USA and put in a UK 3G adapter. Anybody any ideas?
