HEllo,
A little while ago there was a thread saying about low cost batteries and ISBmgr.exe giving trouble.
Are there still people experiencing issues with this?
-
Just disable the ISMmgr.exe from start up. I didn't even install that utility after a clean install of vista.
-
doesn't work, your computer will decrease in performance, and not charge the battery properly, or not charge it at all!
-
-
The generic battery I have will not even work. The computer wont turn on, nor will it charge the battery. The orange battery meter just constantly flashes. This is with isbmgr not running.
-
From the other battery thread, there were mixed results as I recall. Some folks couldn't get aftermarket batteries to work at all, with or without ISBMGR. Others had some minor issues, while others had no problems at all. Which tells me it either varies by laptop model, or by battery. I'd suggest digging that thread up again and see if someone has a similar laptop model to yours that worked fine with an aftermarket battery after disabling ISBMGR, and then buy whatever battery they bought.

Coolguy, sorry but.., stop the **** ok?
The ISBMGR (one of the older versions)works perfectly fine on WINXP MCE, and the battery works perfect too.
It's just Sony bugging users not using Sony batteries, but the battery works perfectly! (tested and approved with the older ISBMGR), so don't give me the **** that it's the battery!
There's nothing wrong with it.
People who do have the battery issue, and want to do something about it, please continue talking about the subject, and your findings!
If you want I could send you my version of ISBMGR, and see if it works on your laptop!
Let me know via mail.
With this I just wanted to know if there was someone who had been able to go arround the issue or not. -
The only way I could get the generic battery to work is to use this process:
With the notebook turned on and running off AC power...
Insert the generic battery...then unplug the AC from the notebook.
It will then run off the generic battery. Only problem is that the generic battery will not charge under AC power once you have ran your battery to zero. You will need to use an external battery charger to charge the generic battery if you wish to use it again in this fashion...which is ridiculous.
ProDigit, please send me the old ISBMgr. I really don't want to pay **** prices for sony batteries. -
Search online before posting.
Mind your language here. This is not your home. -
Maybe that sollution works for you, but not for a bunch of others out there.
And cut the crap about searching, I've searched every frikkin page I could find.
At this moment noone seriously worked on it, and silently gave up, returning their batteries.
If the mgr works for you by deleting it, then you do that! As far as language, I can say whatever I want. The forum sencors it anyways you ****!
This thread is for people who do have issues, and where the simply deleting will not help.
I will see what I can do, I could post the previous ISBmgr and see if it helps some peops here! -
Do a clean install of your OS, and install all drivers except for pack SOABCU-01298303-us.exe
This pack is the battery check pack, so I suggest installing all other drivers except for this one!
This should make you able to run vista without the shutting down because of the battery.
If any more problems, please post!
I'm currently working on a list of drivers to install. -
I am not running Vista... -
my battery gets charged, allthough I can't select the power performance things like saving power with desktop to 16 bit, or diminishing the display's brightness or so..., other then Windows Vista power saving functions.
So, yes, the battery charges that way.
If you have the bandwidth, but not the money, try installing a linux version (preferably knoppix or Mandriva linux)
Without drivers, even they charge the battery.
Vista should charge the battery without driver as well.
as far as ISB mgr, I haven't been able to extract it yet, since I'm having HD problems here, and the SSD drive I bought really sucks!(is abnormally slow)
I need to sort that out first!
