Recently, there have been many rumors going around about Sony's upcoming notebooks.
I hope that the upcoming FW series will come with the following specifications:
CPU: P9500 (2.53ghz), T9600(2.6Ghz.), T9800(2.8Ghz.) (Montevina)
GPU: 9500 GS, 9600 GT, 9800 GTS, 9800 GTX (doubt it), ATi Mobile Viper Radeon 3870HD (Sony rarely uses AMD or ATI
)
Screen Size: 15.6 inch, 16.4 inch Hi-color![]()
Screen Resolutions: 1400x900, 1650x1050, 1900x1200

I would like a 12" version of the TZ with a tad bigger keyboard, 2.0GHZ processor, 4mb of memory and a 200 gig SSD drive, throw in Blue ray and keep the battery life same as now or better and under 3lbs.
-
You mean 4GB of RAM.
-
They should also include WiMax, HSPDA, and built-in GPS on future TZ series models.
-
yes, it's been a long day.
-
Same here.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
Here is what I want next year in my Nehalem laptop:
Intel Calpella (Auburndale processor/gpu)
Nvidia 10 series (if Intel/Nvidia end their fight)
13.3" LED Screen with 1440x900 resolution
128GB SSD
2GB DDR3 ram standard
Blu-ray drive
Intel 6XXX A/G/N wireless -
And "Ideal" can never be "Real" or "Practical"
-
It can be real and practical, as long as you keep it within certain limits.
-
wow, u guys want a lot from the TZ...expect that to cross 3000-4000 bucks ;p
-
I would like all of their notebooks to use LED backlit screens, have backlit keyboards which you could turn on or off and modular bays to swap the optical drive with another battery, hard drive or nothing to keep the weight down.
-
TZ as is, but with montevina and ULV Core 2 CPU, 4GB DDR2/3 dual channel, fast 128GB+ SSD, eSATA, non-limited/hi-speed SD card slot, WiMAX, HSPA (up/down), bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, USB 3.0(?) and LESS BLOAT...

The ideal Sony notebook is coming...
Another fan of the TZ:
I would like to see it like that: Montevina ULV, X4500 graphic card, 128 GB SSD, Blu-ray (I hope Sony can fit one there), HSDPA and mostly backlit keyboard. I owned a TZ190 with 32 GB SSD and I sold cause I couldn't see the keyboard in dark places and the storage was too small. From then I'm expecting the right moment to buy another one! -
Sony does not have easily portable dream them up ... I think that right now they have their market held backly...His maximum exponent series AR, not only that...ACER, TOSHIBA, LENOBO ... they are making the difference as of the present moment ... greetings
-
I doubt that Sony will meet all of our expectations with their upcoming TZ models.
-
I think I would agree with most of it with the exception of a few things... screen resolution doesn' tneed to be that high on a 15 laptop, also Blu-Ray is a useless piece of crap... I think I would rather have a slimmer laptop then a drive bay these days. They just don't get used that often. -
Blu-ray may seem useless now, but in a year or so, it will become standard.
In terms of resolution, I offered a few options. I think that the most optimal resolution for a 15inch notebook would be 1650x1050. 1400x900 would be fine as well. -
Does anyone know what the screen size of the FW series will be? 15.6inch or 16.4inch? What is more likely? I would like a 16.4 inch. It's just the right size.

I disagree that Blu-ray will become standard in a year or two. It's not that big a jump in capacity (over DVDx) for a lot of people to bother with it as a data format. And remember compared to VHS, DVD was a quantum leap in quality, but the jump from (upscaled) DVD to BD is not as big a gap, although its significant for those lucky few with huge flat panels to feed.
Finally, Blu-ray doesn't have the gaming advantage that DVD had. The PS2 really jump started DVD due to the console's huge popularity, but this generation Sony is facing stiffer competition from both MS and Nintendo, so Blu-ray won't get the same kick start unless the PS3 begins to take a much bigger share of the gaming business. Just my 2p, of course... -
These companies are just making it more complicated for people. They just want to make more money by creating all these different formats.
If the DVD format is so popular and offers quality, why bother using blu-ray and paying the extra 400-500 dollars for a blu-ray player? It doesn't make sense. I hope that Blu-ray won't become standard and that DVD will continue to be used.
They only thing that these companies should be doing is improving the quality and capacity of DVDs. It hasn't even been a decade since DVDs were first used! -
How would they improve the capacity of a DVD? Blu-Ray may not be the "near" future, but it is the future... or maybe, guideline for the future.
