If I make recovery discs, can I remove the recovery partition?

Will I be able to recover later with just the discs and a completely clean HDD?

Yes, as far as I know. Just make sure you don't lose the recovery discs!!

Well I plan on just using a Windows 7 install disk every time I format and just getting the product key off the bottom of the laptop. Then I'll download the drivers from the Sony site. Is this okay?

I'm not even gonna use the recovery discs. Just wanna keep them in case anything goes wrong.

Yes its fine to delete the partition, however as steve said once you delete it you can't get it back, so make sure to keep the recovery disks safe.

But why would it matter if I will just keep my Win7 clean install disc and just format my computer that way? The drivers can be downloaded from the Sony site.

Thats true, I was under the impression that your recovery disks were just for the OS. I once had an HP with a recovery partition that only had vista no drivers.

If you already have a win 7 disk then go ahead and delete it then.
