So I was e-mailing with my sales guy from Dynamism as I was going to order the G2. Here's what he had to say:
"Unfortunately all new G2 orders are delayed until February (outside of the SKUs we offer on our site which we already ordered for stock). Basically, there is a battery shortage and nothing will be available until then."

For the TZ91 he said this:
"we expect the same for the TZ91 by December (so nothing in jan on that model either)"

Just figured I'd give people a heads up.

    Thanks.

What are you going to do FenderP? Wait it out or get one of the in-stock G2s?

I posted the problems with battery supply when I mentioned the unavailability of the 10th Anniversary TZ. But I had no problem ordering my large-capacity battery today, it was in stock for immediate delivery. :)

Yes, you posted but now we know more about specific timeframes. TZ batteries are safe for about a month before they're in the same boat as G folks.

Savage - this isn't a Sony problem per se; I bet all the manufacturers are having issues. No one - from Sony on down to Dynamism on down to folks like me - are happy with this. Sony isn't holding back for the sake of it. They want to sell stuff.

esskay - Since Dynamism didn't order the brown ones, I'm going to hold off. I don't want to settle for something just to get something now. My G1 works just fine - I just want some more internal SSD room more than anything else. I don't want the TZ as I've said many a time - hate that resolution (but nice screen).

For grins and yucks I did call Toshiba Direct and they said it would take 2 - 3 weeks to get the R500 with the 64GB SSD, but I haven't heard anything great about the screen or the build quality. It's certainly cheaper than the G, but I know I should just wait or poke around and see if anyone else such as icube has the brown G2.

I just ordered a Standard battery from Sony Europe (France), and I received it 2 days later.

So if you want extra batteries, order from Europe whilst they still have stock (if you live here of course)

Clarification - I was going back and forth with Conics last night. Apparently Sony is not allowing people to buy EXTRA batteries, but you can order computers (at least for now). So it seems like there's some confusion right now and I guess Sony is making sure that new computer orders get their batteries.

So if you want an extra/different battery soon and you know somewhere has it in stock, get it.
