Yesterday I finally received ACER gobi 2000 from ebay and I am still not able to make it work. Replacing it was piece of cake, but finding driver that will work with it is impossible.
Gobi 2000 is great WWAN card but if you have locked one it's impossible to unlock it and DC Unlocker doesn't have solution for it for long time.
To add salt to the wound seems like each manufacturer has it's own version (you have HP, Lenova,Acer,Sony version of it) and so you need special version of drivers. I manage to install Acer drivers but QDLoader doesn't load default image end even if I try to connect to listening port using custom maid loader from this site it cant even open port communication.
I wonder if this is problem with driver it self or SmartWi is not enabling card properly. If anybody knows latest version of Acer drivers for Gobi 2000 please let me know.
So moral of the story is: Don't buy non Sony Gobi 2000 card![]()

Does your Z have the SIM card slot? I have a US Z and I tried the EU version of "WAN Connection Manager" software from Sony's site and it appeared to let me change the firmware from Verizon to anything else I want (unlocked) with no problem, but I can't test it because I have no SIM slot unless I can find a replacement board with the SIM slot or solder one on.
If you want to replace Gobi 2000 for VPC-Z11 not just any card will do
