It's not only the SR that we cannot configure anymore.

you can still configure the Z, but its not an option anymore on the SR. i hope its temporary, since I was planning on buying an SR after paying some loans I have, but if I cant customize, i doubt I'll choose the SR.

There are many configurations available in retail and upgrading the hard drive on the SR is very easy.

sony is probably already getting rid of SR's to make room for yet another new laptop/updated SR.

Sony is REALLY REALLY bad with sticking with one product for a good amount of time. Sony is just downright inconsistent.

Look at lenovo. Same keyboard for many years, for example. Sony makes new designs all the time, rendering yours "old" fashioned :D

They update their hardware more than their software/drivers!!

Duke is right in the sense that Sony will changing some of its notebooks; the SR and the FW. You should be able to configure again on Sunday sometime, I believe. Your options for different colors may be limited however...the FW for example will not be available in black anymore.
