I searched by my model number and found anything, and just came across this site through Google so please don't go off if it's already answered on here and I missed it.

I have a VGN-AW420D laptop and it gets extremely hot. Nothing on the right side, mainly just under the vent on the left side and a bit into the center. Currently CPU is running at 85C Graphics Card at 80 Motherboard at 70 an hard drive at 40. It is very clean on the inside of it and those are temperatures from it sitting idle typing this question. I've read about some heat related recalls from Sony and bios updates to help it, if anyone has ANY information that may help me I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

Did you do the internal cleaning yourself? Did you reapply thermal paste/pads on the CPU and GPU?

No basically I took it in said I believe it's dirty and that's why it is running so hot. Got a call pretty well by the time I got home saying that the computer was clean (didn't require anything to be done). So maybe there is something I need to have taken more apart and cleaned internally or something? This is my first laptop, I'm used to desktop where everything is visible by removing a side panel.

No there is no local Sony store where I live. I took it into a Staples to have it cleaned because I thought that was the issue. Had a chat with online Sony which did absolutely nothing and just stated how to prevent heat by not covering it.
