    Install new hard drive VZ4000

    I have a VGN-FZ4000 Sony laptop. I installed a new Hatachi 250gb hard drive. How do I get my laptop to recognize the new hard drive. Thanks for any help

    It will automatically be recognized. You need to install/ image the current OS to use it though.

    Thanks for the response Rajesh. Problem is I installed the new hard drive and wanted to install Windows XP pro. Not ready to go to Windows7 yet. I can't get the laptop to recognize the hard drive as c:. It calls it X: The Windows XP pro CD goes so far and then want finish the install. The laptop came with Vista and I hate it. I have a DELL XPS desktop . Put a new hard drive in it and it automatically recognized the new hard drive. Thanks for any help.

    XP needs SATA drivers to recognize a SATA hard drive. If I were you, I would load Vista. Vista with SP1 clean install is way faster than the Sony bloated FZ with Vista you got originally. You will loose some functionality with XP.
    You need to slipstream the SATA driver with the XP install media before even attempting to install XP.
    If you can get Windows 7, it will be worth installing it.
