    Installin bluetooth module on base sz

    Is it possible to retrofit a bluetooth module on the SZ....I have the base model for the UK SZ1M....and the only thing missing I need is the bluetooth....if its not possible ..them I'm going to have to upgrade..so soon ! I really dont want a USB dongle...ugh!!...Icve seen Memory stick bluetooth modules by Sony...that would be ok ...but i think that is only for their PDA Range..

    Not beyond using usb or pc card. The bluetooth device, as far as I know, is built in with the wireless.

    The bluetooth is not built in with the wi-fi pci-express card. (Wi-fi is Intel 3945)

    They are both turned on by the wi-fi switch though.

    I don't know where the bluetooth part is located on the SZ because I've never disassembled the entire unit.

    I have taken apart a S-Series (S360) and was able to install the bluetooth module onto it. (Needed to order the chip, wires and a screw to secure it and connect it.) By default no S360 and a lot of other early S-series did not include a bluetooth unless you ordered the laptop with the option from Sony.

    So I'm sure you could put in the bluetooth chip if you knew how and which part to buy.

    With that said, the problem is knowing which part numbers the bluetooth and wires are so you can order it from Sony Parts & Accessories and where the chip belongs.
