I'm trying to install sp1 but unfortunately, I can't due in part to having an outdated Sigmatel Audio driver. I have checked Sony's esupport site under my FE but unfortunately, they did not release an updated driver. BUT, I've checked the FZ's drivers and I see a download for a version that SP1 will accept. My question is, is it possible for me to download the FZ's sigmatel driver and install it on my FE? I know the message saying I don't have the right laptop to install this driver pops up. How can I get around this?

    Thank you for any help.

I don't know if the AR6 driver will work for you or not, image your system then try it. I chose the AR-6 because it has the highest version number that I could find on the ftp site. The LT2 driver appears to be the same thing.

Ok, spill it. What did you have to do to get the driver installed? No fair getting advice and not giving back! ...big ol' grin...

LOL. I downloaded AR6 drivers 2.zip from that link he provided. Open up the zip, and run the setup.exe to initiate it. Thats all.

Ohhhhhh. Come on... that is cheating. That was much too easy. And after I went to all the work to dig up the info on Ultimate Extractor and the bits about INF files and all. Sigh.

Just kidding of course. Glad it was easier than jumping through all the extra hoops you and I thought you were going to have to do.

Check this out. The thing is, I actually used the uniextractor to extract the FZ's sigmatel driver. But right when it completed, was when I found out I could just download it off that website index that guy gave me. So I had two options which were essentially the same. I just picked the latter. :D Thanks again for your help my man.

another option is to install the asio4all drivers. www.asio4all.com
ASIO is way better than Direct X anyway.
