    Hi,

I've installed a non sony copy of xp on a s series laptop (European S4xp, similar to US 460, I believe) and managed to install all the drivers successfully. I'd like to install a couple of applications that come included with the sony software (photoshop elements, intervideo dvd) but when I insert my applications dvd (made from the recovery partition) the autostart program does not appear to do anything. When I double click the executable on the disc, nothing happens. Does anyone know what I need to do? Autostart is also enabled.

When I first tried to install xp, I used the serial number on the base of the laptop but my installation disc refused it therefore I had to use the number included with the copy of xp I have got. Do you think it has something to do with this?

    Thanks for any help.

I don't think the XP serial number has anything to do with it. The recovery kit usually does a machine check, but not on XP serial number. My guess is either a bad CD or you have updated the BIOS and the CD doesn't like it.
