I have been trying to install Vista on a SZ1 with Core 2 duo.

Could someone tell if the sony vista drivers for the SZ3 are 64 bit or 32 Bit...because im getting errors instaling some vista drivers and utilities stating the I need 64bit drivers...mainly the TPM, memory stick, camera, Sony programmable IO (in inf format  )

Because my machine has a core 2 duo I have installed the 64 bit version...does Sony recommend 64bit or 32bit ?

My guess is that they are all 32-bit drivers. I don't ever remember seeing a Sony available from the factory with 64-bit Windows.

If you installed the x64 version of Vista, I think you should use 64-bit drivers. The problem is that I'm not sure where you would get them. I don't hear of too many people using the x64 version of Windows yet. They typically say "it's too hard to find drivers".

Unless you are really hardcore into patching together a workable 64-bit system and have the time to do it, I think repaving with 32-bit Vista will save you time and headache.

Of course, Sony's 32-bit Vista drivers suck too :(

Thanks...thats what I was beginning to gather as I was installing the drivers...

All I can say is that I hope Sony get it together.....64 bit hardware, 64 bit OS, 32 Bit drivers....what a waste....

A lot of software - not just drivers - are not there in 64-bit versions nor do they work right. It's not just a Sony problem. It's an industry problem. Until you see a more widespread adoption of x64 as a consumer OS, you won't see a major shift away from 32-bit.

I think 64Bit versions of vista will be pre-installed in future; the problem is that a lot of manufactures of hardware and software doesn't have released vista 32Bit drivers yet. There very late. But maybe in future this would be better.
