I'm trying to install Windows 7 on an very old VGN-S2XP laptop and I'm struggling a bit with the drivers.

There is a mass storage controller, the sound card, the wifi card and two unknown devices that need drivers.
    Can anyone help?

I tried installing Windows 8 first, but I think this is too old for that. Inte Pentium M Processor 1.80GHz. :(

Installed Radeon 9700 PRO driver built into Windows 7.
Installed original sound card driver (XP) in compatibility mode for XP SP2.
Installed original WiFi driver (XP) in compatibility mode for XP SP2.

I still have a mass storage controller and two unknown devices that need drivers.

This thing has a 1394 port. I'm thinking that's the mass storage thingy. THe HDD is using Ultra DMA 5 mode, so that seems to be OK (Intel 82801 DBM Ultra ATA Storage Controller).

Have you tried Google searching what the remaining devices are by using their Device ID in Device Manager?

Thanks, namaiki and Andy53. I'll get into it after I get back from work. One of the unknown devices disappeared overnight after a few rounds of Windows updates. The mass storage controller is still there, along with one unknown device. However, I don't have any 1394 device, so I'm not too bothered. Would be nice to have, though.

I think mass storage controller is memory stick interface.
Maybe 1394 device hangs on audio device, just like S.B. Audigy.
Just like I says before, let Intel scan for drivers.
