    Hi,

Is it possible to install Windows 8 on the first generation Sony Vaio Z Series? I have the VGN-Z11VN/B.

    Thanks.

10 char - 10 characters....otherwise the board system would not let me to post such short answer ;)

And yes, all VGN-Z are practically the same, so it's possible to install Win8 on them. Surprisingly without any bigger problems. I went static GPU way (means I need to restart, when I want to switch GPUs), so it's even easier for me, as I can use newest drivers for both GPUs. If you want to keep your hybrid setup, you should check latest news in this thread. Beware, first post is quite outdated and not suitable for Win8 upgrade.

    @ Metsn,
I have a similar question here, but maybe you can tell me your configuration.
I've installed the Bios with static VGA on the (european) VPCZ11Z9E, but struggling with the procedure to get the NVIDIA working...

Hi, Win8 is working on the notebook, and with "STAMINA" I can already work with the Intel HD Graphics with 1920x1080i ->> only the Installaltion of the NVIDIA driver fails (to use an external HDMI monitor)...

    Hi jochenthomas,

I'm not sure if I'll be any help for you, as I never had VPC-Z in my hands. My guess would be, you might need to use modified INF from laptopvideo2go.com, which includes your graphic card. With VGN-Z it's the only way. I would try this one.

I have succesfully installed Win8 on my VGN-Z4, but I can't get WWAN to work.
I tried replacing the DiFxApi.dll in the lastest WWAN drivers for WIn 7 but I Windows 8 keeps telling me that drivers are not intended for this platform.

Anyone had any luck with WWAN?

Does it work with Hybrid Graphics? What is the driver version? Does it allow to switch between Speed/Stamina on the fly?
