    Hi everyone,
I cant seem to find a thread reguarding this so I figured i'd start my own. I have a SZ 110 with Home. In retrospect I should've bought it with professional, but now it's too late. Do you think it's a good idea for me to install Windows Media Center edition as an upgrade? I'm nervous because read about people having operating system installation issues. However, the laptop is just not working as fast as it should be, and its acting kind of buggy so i was hoping that widows media center might make it more stable.
    Any advice is appreciated

Can you specify what you mean by 'buggy'? There are numerous hotfixes available that might fix your stability problems without having to change the OS.

I tried installing media center 2005 on my SZ.

I couldnt get the camera, wireless switching utility, or smart wi to work with the original drivers or the drivers provided in the clean install thread.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad i didnt try installing it yet!
My SZ is running very slow, and programs often stop responding. i feel like i'm using a celeron almost. And even after applying a hotfix, my computer still takes a long time to shut down.
I have Zonealarm security suite, and two spyware programs running, so it's not because I don't maintain my computer well.
When i first bought my SZ it took like 10 minutes to shut down. I called SOny up and they said that the CMOS sensor needs to be replaced. I mailed it back to them and they ended up replacing the whole motherboard. I'm wondering if there is still something wrong under the hood...

Are you sure you didn't mistake your SZ with a digital camera?

Anyway, refer to this to see how to properly do a clean installation. Windows MCE is basically Windows XP Professional without Active Directory compatibilty so the drivers should work. Just make sure you install them in the right order.

Urgh, how embarrassing - i didnt mean CMOS sensor - i meant CMOS as in the battery. or atleast that's what i remember the tech support guy calling it. Thank you for the advice, i'm going to try a clean install
