Hi all,
Yesterday I purchased a Vaio VGN-N365EB which came with Vista Home Premium installed. I immediately wiped the hard drive clean and installed Windows XP Pro but, of course, I'm having problems finding drivers.
Also, this is the first laptop I've ever owned that did NOT come with any restore CDs/DVDs. Does anyone know if there was an option to burn those in with some proprietary software in the Sony Vista installation? Turns out that I was a bit hasty in wiping the hard drive clean first before checking that out.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
--Chris

Can't answer your question. I purchased one of these recently and am also looking for XP drivers. Have you had any luck yet?
Dp you have a list of the components that you need drivers for. I have not opened mine yet, but if I could get a liist of the specific components for which drivers are needed. I would be happy to help you dig for em. I am off from work all next week, and have some spare time to take a stab at it.
Actually, I think this thread might help quite a bit:

And yes.... now I am paranoid to open mine from its box....lol. -
Well, using the same thread link that you posted and a couple of others, I've managed to get everything working except for the wifi. Currently I can only connect it to the internet using an ethernet cable. Am kind of at a stand-still as there isn't much info out there about this model. Very limited info on Sony's website either. Wish I had more news but I am not ready to give up and re-install Vista yet. All I need is to get it to recognize my darn wireless network.

Get the wifi card make and model number (in System control panel, Device Manager) and search Google for drivers for it.

Unfortunately, I don't know the make and model number of the wifi card because it's not showing in the device manager. I also have a feeling that the wifi on/off switch on the side of the laptop is going to make it more difficult of a process without the original Sony Vista software installed.

Were you able to load XP without slipstraming the SATA driver?
There has got to be a way to find out which WIFI card it uses. Hmmmm now you have my wheels turning. -
I was able to install XP Pro 32-bit full version with just a reformat and an install from the CD.
It's driving me crazy, everything seems to work except I can't do wireless. -
Well, I've just about given up. Called and ordered the Restore DVD from Sony (cost $27 including shipping).
-
Just bought a USB wifi adapter so there is hope for using XP on this laptop yet.

I am picking up this same laptop in the a.m. and am definitely curious how
to "downgrade" to XP. Very interested in any more info on drivers etc. -
UPDATE: Thanks to some other folks who posted similar threads, I was able to install Windows XP Professional with full functionality on my Vaio VGN-N365. The files can be found here:
