I installed XP SP2 in a VAIO AR41M and didn't got any unrecognized devices, so everything seems fine. There's a problem, though.
When I plug the headphones the audio keeps sounding by the speakers and not only by the earphones, as it should be.
The audio hw seems to be the same as in the other VAIOs (FE/FZ/AR) so I use the same Sigmatel 5.x audio driver (because the newer 6.x versions are only for Vista and didnt work). Of course I previosly installed all windows update patches and "UAA High Definition Audio Class driver" (kb835221) so it could detect the audio hw.
Any solution? Any1 got the same problem?

PS: Why windows detect 2 audio devices? (realtek and sigmatel) Are there 2?

Did you fix this? Realtek is for High Definiton Audio (trough SPDIF) and Sigmatel is the normal analog audio output. Did you fix the headphones issue? I am having the exact same proble, here...same model....installing XP...same nightmare!
