I hope you have accidental plan covering you in case anything goes wrong.

what kind of harddrive are you putting in anyway? the 7200RPG 200GB sony offer is pretty decent already imo.

Do you know of a link or post that details how to swap out the memory sticks on the SZ680? Mine is on its way now and I also have 2x2GB of memory that should be here too, and I wanted to be prepared for the swap...I've heard that some of the newer, thin-and-light laptops place one under an access panel and the other under the keyboard, bezel, etc. Should I expect any surprises? Thanks.

Just unscrew the lid right under the touchpad on the back of the laptop.
No tutorial needed for that, except you are a retard :D

Ok...I know how to swap memory - I've built many computers and other electronics - but I didn't know if Sony was putting them in hard-to-access places like some other manufacturer's do...it doesn't help that I don't have it in front of me just yet, otherwise I would have seen it.

But thanks for the heads up...and no, I'm not a retard (though I may act the part on occasion).

Ah OK, not a retard. ;)
Anyways, the memory banks are easy to reach.
    So don't worry.

I was planning to put in a Hitachi 7K200. In the end I did not do it because i figured with the applications i use it's hardly worthwhile. I use my lappie 90% browsing and email.
