    Hi,

I have bought a half year ago Sony VAIO C2Z/B (Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 13.3" TFT, 2GB RAM, Vista). Is it possible to install into this notebook the new Linux based (or BIOS base) Instant mode functionality and how?

To boot in 10 seconds for multimedia viewing?

    Thanx for help
    Peter

    Hi,
I've got a newer Vaio and am installing the instant mode Linux partition as I write this. You need to first start with a restored Windows system. If you don't have the restore disks you can order them from Sony (that's what I had to do). Basically you need to look for a partition that is around 200M; that's it. When you install Linux keep that partition and see if it works. On my Toshiba which came with a Linux media player I had a media disk I could restore from; in the Sony it may ne more complicated. You may need to move the instant mode files to a new partition during your Linux install see here: http://www.hermit.org/Linux/SonyTXNInstant.html

    Good Luck!
