I understand that Vaio TX series uses the older Cingular "Edge" module. Sadly thats not of much use, as it gives 70-140kbps speeds (at max ... which sucks).

Now, Cingular does sell dual Edge/"GPRS" cards, which offers a Nice speed of around 1Mbps.

I called the tech support ... while they didn't had much info on SZ notebook, they indicated it'll have identical module ("Sony Erickson Edge module with an accelerated profile") to the TX series.

So I'm pretty confused, and feel ... it is useless to buy the SZ or the TX series with imbedded wwan modules. Or if anyone could add something or correct me here would be awesome ?

I don't know what you're talking about but EDGE doesn't go 1 Mbps. Verizon runs the fastest data network at the moment and 400-500 kpbs is good there.
