Well, the roadmap of Montevina is out and I would like to discuss about it.The one most exciting to me being the U3300, which will hopefully see its way into various new versions of the Sony Vaio TZ, Toshiba Portégé R500 and such similar systems.

When do you guys think will see our beloved Sony TZ with the Montevina? Is pretty impressive the U3300 that consumes only 5.5 Watts!

Keep in mind the U3300 is a Core Solo processor, Sony will not go from Core 2 Duo back to Core Solo in the T series. You'll see the U3300 in their next U series. The T series will get the SU9300 and SU9400 processors.

    Great found exetlaios,

Yeah, I have to agree with rahulnirmal, it would be a step back for Sony to put Core Solo in the TZ. IMO is impresive the FSB that from 533 mhz of the actual TZ, the upcoming TZ with Montevina will have 800 mhz FSB.
The big question is if we really will have to wait untill Q3 to see Montevina in ultraportable? Can't wait soooo long!

The U series is Sony's 5" UMPC series (eg. UX490). They have used Core Solo and the new models use Core 2 Solo (basically same as Core Solo but 64-bit) ULV processors.

The current TZ series use Core 2 Duo ULV processors. The previous TX series used Pentium M and then Core Solo processors.

You're right, time is a big issue. Is it official that is going to be Q3 like the link in the main page thread or is a prevision of a site?

Jack, it seems official. We will have to wait more to take a TZ with the Montevina chipset.

Haven't you considered purchasing now a TZ and then maybe sell it in 6 months for taking the upcoming T series with the Montevina? There are pretty good deals out there for the TZ130 or TZ150.
I am quite sure that the next refresh of the TZ will NOT have the Montevina, is not going to happen man because the ULV at this time will not be available yet.

Yes the TZ's are equiped with U series processor, but I think you did not understood that Montevina is a hole new chipset. The actual TZ use a 945 chipset that is two years old, Montevina will improve a lot the performance, the battery life and less heat. The processor is going to be hopefully Penryn. :)

Maybe you are right, can't wait for ever for an ipothetic TZ with the Montevina and Penryn. I mean we are not even sure that this is going to happen right?
I am looking also other brands, it just doesn't feel nice to pay a premium for such a Napa chipset.
The Lenovo X300 isn't so bad if only the battery life was better...
