So I swapped out the old HDD with an Intel g2 ssd for my Vaio Z and did not noticea big jump in performance (as compared to other notebooks), especially in the boot-up and shut-down sequences. I've used the same SSD drive on many Acer/Asus notebooks and their bootup/shutdown time is significantly faster than that of the Z. Any ideas why there is a slowdown with the SSD's performance in the Z? Are there anyone else experiencing the same thing?
Are there ways to get a quicker boot-time?

try to switch power plan mode to high performance and restart
You can see Vaio Z + Intel SSD G2 + Windows 7 Boot in 20 Secs here

That did not help at all.

anyone else have any other suggestion?

This is what i did to get noticable performance improvement with the Intel x25-m g2 ssd in Windows 7 x64:
1. Install the latest firmware from Intel.
2. Enable default MS AHCI driver, then reboot and enable AHCI in BIOS.
3. After everything is working, download and install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver. Latest one is from Dell:

Good luck. -
@ckthepilot
where did you get the instruction from? I wanna do the same for my Z11... -
There are several items in the registry startup sections that wait for networking. Especially if this isn't a CTO model, and comes with all the extra bloatware.
