This question concerns Sony Vaio F laptops with a dedicated graphicscard (Nvidia 540M) and a Sandy Bridge CPU (Core i7/i5/i3 with built-in HD3000 graphics). The F23, F22 and F21 has this configuration. Other models as well I think.
Does anyone know if there is any way to enable the Intel CPUs built in HD3000 graphics? I need it for Quicksync video encoding (it's really fast) and power saving. I know it doesn't have Nvidia Optimus autoswitching, but was thinking it might be possible to switch it in BIOS or the Windows device manager by disabling the Nvidia 540M or something?
I don't care how difficult it is to manually enable the HD3000 if at all possible. I don't need the 540M and prefer the HD3000 as the always enabled graphics as it provides the most benefits for my use.
All the info I've been able to find is that only the Nvidia graphicscard can be active, not the HD3000. But I'm just hoping there's some way it's possible.
I haven't bought a Sony laptop yet although the F23 looks like a good deal, but not being able to use the HD3000 isn't a good thing for me.
Any solutions?
Thanks.
Lars
