I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit edition on my Vaio FW490 (upgraded from Vista 64). I received the free upgrade disks from Sony. When I checked my device manager I noticed that the driver version for the WiFi Link 5100 is 11.4.3.9 dated 5/28/09. On the Sony Site, they list the version for Windows 7 as 12.4.1.11 dated 10/8/2009, and when I checked on the Intel site, they are recommending driver version 13.0.0.107 dated 10/21/09.

Should I stick with what I currently have installed on my system, or update to one of the versions mentioned above. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Updated my FW285 - went with the drivers on the Sony Support site - no issues so far. Recommend stick with those (versus your driver disc) and only if having problems check out the Intel one.
plus check Sony's site occasionally, they posy updated versions of drivers over time. Wireless is usually updated about every 6 months from what I've seen so far on my series.

Thanks. I also notice that download speads are slower than they used to be with my older Thinkpad where I used a Linksys wireless G adapter. I think I'm getting around 66K. I have a Linksys Wireless N router, but the Vaio connects more freqently with anther linksys wireless G router Which I have set up as an access point on my network due to distances involved. Connections are generally excellent, but the speed seems somewhat off.
