How good is Itel x3100 card for running Vista Ultimate edition, or you have to have nvidia or something. I am considreing x3100, because that is supposed to give better battery life, but I want to make sure that its capable of running Vista Ultimate features.

Oh yes, it will run it just fine, don't worry about it, its predecessor the GMA 950 can run it so it won't be a problem.

While using nvidia as opposed to intel integrated card how much battery life should one expect for office work and playing music, e.g. if Intel card gives lets say 3 hrs, then how much one can expect from nvidia card while doing same tasks, even some rough numbers would be helpful

On my ThinkPad X61 with X3100, I get a 3.4 Windows Aero score and a 3.5 Business/3D gaming score in Windows Experience Index. More than sufficient to make it run smoothly.

And yes, as rahulnirmal said, the predecessor GMA 950 is capable in most cases as well and since X3100 is significantly more powerful there is nothing to worry about.

As for battery life, it would really be a rough figure as it will depend on the rest of your notebook's configuration. I'd say that compared to i.e. a dedicated fast graphics card such as ATI or Nvidia, you might save 0.5-1 hour in battery life. But then again I have no test backing this up. It's just based on my subjective experience with integrated graphics vs. fast dedicated graphics cards.
