I have a PCG TR3A and it has a damaged screen. Would the screen from a TR2AP would in its place? Is there any reason this would not work?

I know that both of them are the 10.6" XBrite screens with the camera and adjustment buttons on the side, but are there different connections or anything else that would cause problems?

it will work, as long as the screen fits into the bezel. Heck, you can even put a screen from a VAIO T260, Fujitsu P7010/P7120...etc... they all have identical screens.... manufactured by Sharp, I believe.
