Hello, I am interested in buying a vaio ux (the 390). In the mid-term future, I will live overseas (continental Europe). If I buy a vaio ux in the US, will I be able to use the warranty coming with the product? or the warranty only is valid in the US?

In case the warranty is not valid, is it possible to buy a extended, international warranty?

There is no international warranties for the VAIO's yet, and your warranty here in the US will only be good here in the states.

For international support (I've asked), they've told me to purchase a warranty in the country that you will have the notebook so that it's covered over there. Expensive if you ask me!

Thank you for the answer. With an exchange rate of 7.8136 now, I do not think it is terribly expensive. Do you know how could I check if the prices for continental Europe are similar to the ones of HK or not? is there a webpage for the costs detailed by country?

Sony were offering International warranties just over a year ago, they ceased this practice because it was costing them to much money, randomly when speaking with a sony rep he told me by taking my laptop out of the country I had voided all warranties. Not sure if this is true or more ******** from misinformed sony staff.

Yea, that's BS. I've been told it's even fine if it breaks out of country, but to get service you'll just have to bring it back to the US to get it fixed (yes, this is for US service, I don't know how other countries Sony branches handle things though).
