As to T400 they have 3640 which sounds like a lower end 36xx graphic but still better than 3470. Is it possible to be in next generation of Z?
Anyone has any idea how the temperature is in a thinkpad T400?
PS: NV graphic solutions are always bad idea for notebooks, they specify their lines sharply indicating which for ultra portable or which for performance...actually the performance always sucks in the ones they prepared for ultra-portable notebooks like 8400gs or 9300gs, some of them are just a change of title but the same thing or very little upgrades actually and incredibly hot in those with higher performances. Besides, a lotta nv graphic cards are found to be defective, some even cannt be found immediately but the problems occur 1 year later![]()

No. Not even close. The HD 3640/3650 are much more powerful cards than are available in the SR/Z, and they will not work, since the SR/Z are 13" notebooks with much smaller casing than the 14" T400 or 16" FW. Small notebook with a high end GPU means ridiculously high temps and really low battery life.

Not necessarily Redline all these small notebooks can swith to the Intel GMA thing so low battery is really a non issue for a powerful GPU

The Z's 9300 has a smaller form factor; so no.
The SR's 3470 has a pretty common MX II form factor, so theoretically it could fit. In addition, the 3650 and 3670 (just higher powered versions) as well as nv's 9500, 9600 and 9650 fit as well. The difficulty in this is apparently flashing the video card's bios to the motherboard. 3650s are available on ebay for $180 -
