I sent the following question to Crucial.com
Hi, I have Sony laptop FZ4000 CTO. According to your website, my laptop is compatible with PC2-6400(800 MHz) and PC2-5300(667 MHz). Does it mean that if I install PC2-6400 it will really run at 800 MHz or will it be downclocked to 667 MHz. There is no setting in the BIOS to change the RAM clock setting so I don't know how the RAM will react.
And this is their answer
Thank you for contacting us. The BIOS should automatically set the correct setings allowing for use of the 800MHz bus speed. You can find your system, along with the correct RAM upgrades, at the following link:

Is he right? The stock RAM installed with my system is PC2-5300(667 MHz). Is it correct what he said, the BIOS would automatically change the clock to 800MHz if I install PC2-6400 RAM?
Is Crucial right (FZ4 RAM question)?
