    Is FZ much better than CR?

    With given the same Penryn T8300 or T8100 , 2gb ram , 200GB HDD, is the FZ much better than the CR?

    I am asking this because I am getting either one for my friend and the price of FZ35S is 10.000baht(300US) more than the price of CR 35S(similarly configured but has a bit inferior GPU than the one in the FZ.)

    I think in this particular time of this year (in BKK), these Sony models are well priced and maybe the best bang for my baht , so I think I will order either of them for my friend ............


    The prices are like below:

    1 Sony Vaio CR35S(T8100, 2gb, 200gb , ATI X2300 with 128mb, wifi n support) 39900 INC VAT, free bag, free mouse , free SE cell phone.

    2 ASUS F8SV4-SO32(T7500, 2gb,250gb, NV8600GT with 256mb, wifi n support)49900 baht INC VAT, free bag, free mouse , free IPOD shuffle.

    3 Sony Vaio FZ 35S (T8100, 2gb, 250gb, NV8400GT with 384mb, wifi n support) 49900baht INC VAT, free bag, free mouse , free HP printer.

    4 HP DV2760TX(T8100, 1gb,160gb,NV8400GS with 128mb GDDR3, no wifi n support) 44900 INC VAT , free bag , free insurance 1year international,free HP printer. If I get this one for my friend , he needs to upgrade the ram himself.

    5 ASUS F8SV4 SO18(T7250, 1gb , 120gb , NV8600GT with 256mb , Wifi n support, lightscribe)40900 INC VAT , free ASUS cell phone, free bag , free mouse, free insurance, free Ipod.

    I like the ASUS models and suggested them but he does not like them at all.
    So I need to choose the right one for my friend from the list above.

    31 baht is about 1 USD.

    So 31000baht means about 1k.

    If I get the HP , he will have to get 1 more gb of ram , but it comes with 2 512mb of ram sticks , so he will have to get rid of both of them to get 2 gb of ram, I think it is wasting.

    The Sony FZ is a decent model and fast enough for his needs but , is a bit big and I am not sure if it is a better buy than the CR since they are very similarly configured besides the GPU.

    My friend is an university student majoring in Digital Photography.

    He has to carry it all the time , so size and weight are serious issues.

    And he develops lots of RAW files so need a fast CPU(probably anything better than T7250 is ok).

    He plays games some times but nothing serious or new ones, so I think he does not need anything more poweful than Intel X3100 although he wants discrete graphics.

    He prefered the look of FZ over the look of CR when I brought him to a mall.

    But he likes the size of CR better than the size of FZ.


    Any comment appreciated.
