WOW, I am extremely impressed. Like seriously, lets bow down to Sony right about now. Like I am talking almost on the level with Apple. Vaios really do have the apple feel to them, white look, the keyboard keys are the same, much thinner with less keystroke distance than other PC laptops. Hinges I heard are plastic though. Palm rests solid, very light weight, no flexing or creaking. Keyboard is amazing to type on, so soft, light, effortless. And for the most part no flex in the keyboard, when I say it feels like an apple, it really does.
The model im lookin at is the FS830W
So good, I would buy it just for the look, keyboard feel and screen.
The only question is, (from you long time users), how is the long term durability of VAIOS? Do they start falling apart like some say? Hinges breaking, etc.

Sony is better than average, but the word extremely is far too generous. You might consider looking through some of the other threads, though it does vary depending on model.

I wouldn't say extremely. I have to agree that it's just good build quality. However, their quality control is lacking.

just above avg? Well the FS830W was very impressive. I couldnt find any reviews on this model, what is the word on the FS line?

thats, its review on NBR itself, then Google for it, I found tons http://www.google.ca/search?q=sony+...ient=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official
First search rather then just say your searched. -

They might look solid, but its either the way they put them together or the components they use which ends up providing a 3rd rate product which gets better than most over hyped advertising
