Is it possible to downgrade Vista to XP for a VAIO? Are there compatible drivers for XP on a new VAIO. I just got the FW290 so I am curious because I want to install XP but only if every would work fine. and not have buttons that don't work

Some models come with XP and the drivers are available - e.g. FW190 and the drivers are available here:

    http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNFW190

Those drivers may work with your computer as some of the hardware may be common - in order to make all the button work you will need to install the Sony system control software before anything else. You may also look for threads on XP clean install guides. I know there is one on SZs as I followed it myself.

But there is a risk of glitches. It is a good idea to burn reinstallation disks beforehand so that you can always go back to the original state in case it does not work well.

Burn recovery discs first definitely, just in case when you partition the drive, which you should at first so you can always have a working OS, you mess up the recovery partition

Then you gotta do some digging like I did to get my NS150 working completely fine, got all the drivers and then finally got all the keys working you just gotta put in the time or hopefully find someone that has already done it
