I was taking a look at the parts on Sony's website and they seem to be similar. I'm pretty sure the Full HD screen can be replaced into the old VGN-Z models.

Has anyone done this before? Also, is there is a disassembly or screen replacement guide for the VGN-Z on this forum?

No. You can't replace the VGN-Z screen with the one from VPC-Z.

Vgn-z uses lvds interface. Vpc-z uses displayport. I suspect there'd be some real complications.
