So I'm a bit slow when it comes to new technology, and I'm about to buy my first LCD tv. I have a Sony Vaio SZ 650N, and I want to know if it will hook up to a Sony Bravia KDL22L4000 22 inch television. I don't have an HDMI port, but I do have, obviously, a VGA. Does anyone know if they ae compatible? Will I be able to use the tv as a monitor (read: watch television via the internet, on my tv)? Thaks so much!!!!

Just make sure that your TV has a VGA port (I haven't yet seen any that don't) and go and pick up a VGA cable. It will work fine.

If the TV doesn't have HDMI, chances are that it has component video (red, green and blue plugs), which can also supply HD. You then need a converter box that can convert the HDMI signal from the computer to component. As these boxes also supply a HDCP signature to the sending device to trick it into believing the data stream is secure, they may or may not be legal where you live. But they are available.
If you want to splurge, get something like a converting receiver, like the Sony ES series. They'll take all sorts of inputs, and convert the signals to the best your TV can accept.
Is my Sony VAIO compatible with Bravia TV?
