Im looking at getting a laptop/Tablet to edit photos with, I like the idea of having a pen to do so. I like the idea of having a big screen and and a full keyboard. What I don't want is a nuclear power plant in my lap. How comfortable is this to use, the side seam a bit sharp. Im also interested in how well the pen works if anybody has used it for this sort of thing. I found a good deal at best buy open box so it seams to be a good deal.

    Thanks
    Chris

I just got one, and my initial impressions of it are very positive. I got a Geek Squad recertified model, and I am on my second one, however. I do not blame Sony, but Best Buy. The first one had two places in the lower corners where the LCD had a light bleed. I picked up a replacement yesterday at one of their local stores, and it looked OK until I got home. There is a small "bruise" on the LCD. The keyboard was not snapped all of the way down and I am guessing one of the keys pressed upon the LCD causing the issue. In both cases it was subtle, but look at what you are buying carefully! I am still not sure what I am going to do with the 2nd one. Ignoring the slight defect on the LCD, the display is bright and sharp, and I like the lit keyboard. It is more than fast enough to suite my needs, which will be internet, games, email, etc. In tablet mode, it sits comfortably on my lap and the screen is very responsive. Some will find it a bit heavy, compared to other tablets, but that does not bother me. The build quality is very nice, and it looks great, but you probably already know that! I did not get the pen, sorry!

OP, the official sony digital pen is hard to find now as it was discontinued but you can use the htc scribe stylus on amazon that's 11 bucks or you can buy a surface pro 3 pen and that will work as well.

    G. McNuttles, I would return it as many times as it took for you to get one that you're satisfied with, I know I would!

Folks, I hate to be the one to tell you, but Sony has entirely washed its hands of it's Vaio computer business and sold the brand Vaio, designs and inventory to an investor group in Japan and for months now they have not been in production for the US market. The availability of replacement parts is anyone's guess and support is more certain: it will suck - the only good news being that it always sucked when it was an active business line!

Unless you are getting a steal of a deal, there are no good alternatives on the market and you like living dangerously/have money to burn, you may want to take Sony Vaio off your shopping list - permanently. This has been known since January and you'll find plenty of threads here "mourning" the loss of our once beloved brand, but you are behind the curve on this one. Sorry.
