I'm thinking of picking up an SZ160 today. After looking around at a lot of laptops I've decided it's the best combination of size, weight, style and power. My one concern is it's durability,I played with one yesterday and the display/lid is so thin and bends easily when held by the top ends of the display. I'd love to hear from those of you who have an SZ Carbon Fiber model on how you find its durability and quality to be. Thanks in advance for your input.

No plastic, hinge, etc. Problems on my Japanese SZ90. It's been on the road with me for the past month in bags, through airports, on planes, at clients.

I'm with Fender - I travel a lot with my SZ160, and it's still as good as the day I got it... No loose or broken anything.

Also been travelling with the SZ, no problems with loose bits or broken parts. DVD drive working fine, been playing Oblivion almost daily, no issues.

I stepped on my lid a few weeks ago and it made a nice creaking sound... but after a through inspection it was fine. Still running.

I have also bashed it few times and, again, no problems.

After a month of daily commuting and 10 hours of daily use, mine is good as new. Very pleased.

besides the dvd failing (from a new unit, not after i had it), nothing else seems to be bad. IF you got the sz120 I didn't like the sandpaper finish they made lid out of. It ouwld pickup every grime from my hands. The SZ160 is fine so far. (not including battery issue and getting the camera to work with im, but I think thats user error)

Thanks for all of the responses. Now I'm just thinking if I should go for the SZ150 or SZ160, both are exactly the same machine except for the size of the hard drive, the SZ150 has an 80gb HD and the SZ160 a 100gb hard drive. There is a $130 difference in price between the two. Not sure if 20gb of additional hard drive space is worth $130.

unless you know that youre NOT ever going to need a larger harddrive, save the $130. BUT as others have said, HD swapping isnt the easiest in the model. esp with the harddrive movement protection hardware. That said, I would buy the 160.

It actually runs pretty well on medium settings (which is recommended by the game upon installation). I also did some tweaking of oblivion's ini files, based on this site http://www.tweakguides.com/ (a really great site that has other tweaks for other stuff as well).

It's not worth 20gb for me either. I got the SZ150 and stuck in 2gb of ram with the saved money.
