I remember seeing the C-series as being Vista-Premium ready, but I'm not so sure about SZ330.

Yeah, there is a sticker on the right!

I think Vista ready is not really the issue. Source say Vista is going to be a "Notebook Killer" because its going to suck the life out of the battery. If there is any RC1-2 Vista user here, can you please tell us if thats true?

    "Vista is a notebook killer"

Its not as bad as the Inq makes i out. Yes, it drains battery faster than XP, but it is still not too bad considering the graphics use. I havent timed the battery life but on average I am getting half an hour or so less than with XP.

But you'd have to admit, half an hr is a lot in terms of battery life. Is there a way to disable aura by any chance?

    Yes you can....

    Its Aero BTW.
I wouldnt term it as a notebook killer. By the time it is released it will be further streamlined and any differences should be minimal. Battery life will be lower due to the GUI using the GPU, but it is within resonable limits IMO.

I been alpha tester for Vista (Longhorn) and got to admit it got better for battery life for the current release but it does use up more battery than XP. And the OS still crashed once in a while. Can't wait for the actual release next year. :D

With Vista just around the corner, isn't it better to wait and buy a machine with Vista pre-installed by the manufacturer, rather than buying now and performing a Vista upgrade that may or may not work?

Buy now (with XP Pro) and u will get a FREE vista (business) when it is realdy....
on the other hand, sony is going to provide NEW update/drivers to support Vista.

From pass experience, upgrade from another OS was never a good idea.

I hope this time Microsoft knows what they are doing...
