    I need a laptop by next week because I'm leaving for summer classes next weekend, so I'm in kind of a rush for buying a laptop.

    In your guys opinion, is the FZ-190 a good laptop? I've been reading about some of the heat and sound problems and it kinda scares me.

    What do you guys think about this setup:

    Yes, but you won't have it by next week. I ordered mine last Saturday and it won't be built until July 10.

    Actually, mine (T7500 with Nvidia) shipped two days after my order. If you pay for Fedex Delivery you may get it in time. After a week with my FZ, I think it was worth the money, while my last notebook (Inspiron 5150) had always been a bit of a disappointment, the FZ so far has performed very well. My fan gets confused sometimes, but it does not appear to be annoying, loud or dangerous.

    the prob is that sony has a period of time to build all notebook configurations and then they have a specific day tu send all notebooks that where ordered in that period of time... thats why sometimes some people get them fast and others have to w8...

    i got mine in 10 days... and yes it worth every penny, nice design, low weight, best screen ever seen. i have heard people complaining about the resolution of the screen (1280x800) but why bother?? in my opinion why do i want those tinny little icons dificult to read and see?? 1280x800 is the perfect resolution for any screen, i prefer the XBRITE-HiColor™ technology with a 1280x800 that offers sony than a higher resolution but less quality...

    ok now about the graphics card... why not a 8600GT? insted of a 8400GT? very simple: sony is base more to thin and light notebooks they offer a bit less power (graphics) but more mobility and battery durability, an 8600GT use more energy and gives off more heat than a 8400GT thats why they use this model.
    3dMarks06 scores:
    8400MGT= 2500 aprox
    8600MGT= 3900 aprox
    *but you can still play all last games with a mid or high resolution, depends on the game.

    in conclusion the new Santa Rosa Sony Vaio VGN-FZ190 is an exelent acquisition and a great price compered to older sony models and other brands
